HI! We have that issue a lot also. The way we do it is that the burger option they choose shows what comes on it. Guest has an option to modify and change. We have some items that are no charge to add or swap (mustard, ketchup, mayo) but there are other items that incur an additional cost (certain cheeses, jalapenos, bacon, certain sauces, etc.). We have that posted on our menu/online ordering pages so there is no question. If they did not look at the menu (sometimes happen) I make sure to let them know it is an upcharge to add that specific item. Typically we do not have concerns with this method and guests do not question it because we have it posted. We have toyed around with the idea to not allow modifications but we hate to do that. Another idea we are thinking of integrating this season is to offer a “build your own”.
